Looking for a quick, colorful Thanksgiving project that won’t have you sprinting through the craft store? This TP Roll Turkey Craft is your new best friend. With one empty toilet paper roll, a handful of construction paper, and a dash of imagination, kids can create a bright, cheerful turkey to show off at the holiday table. They can even turn the feathers into a gratitude activity by writing what they’re thankful for!
Materials
- Empty toilet paper roll
- Construction paper (or colorful printer paper)
- Scissors
- Glue
- Stapler
- Yellow or orange pipe cleaner
- Googly eyes
- Turkey body and feather templates
Instructions
- Print the templates for the turkey body and feathers.
- Trace and cut the turkey body from brown construction paper.
- Cut out as many feathers as you like using fall-inspired colors—think oranges, reds, yellows, and earthy greens.
- Decorate the feathers with markers, crayons, or written messages of thanks.
- Cut the TP roll in half, then cut a small 2″ slit down each side. These slits will help hold the feathers in place.
- Gather your feathers at one end, fan them out, and staple the base to secure the shape.
- Slide the feather bundle into the slits on the TP roll. Adjust as needed until they stand tall and proud.
- Glue the turkey body onto the front of the roll, then add the beak, gobbler, and googly eyes.
- Twist the pipe cleaner around the bottom of the roll to create little turkey feet.
Display your adorable TP Roll Turkey on the Thanksgiving table or let the kids make a whole flock!
