Chinese Dragon Puppet

This easy to make Chinese Dragon Puppet is a colorful and creative way to usher in the Chinese New Year. Like other symbols of the Chinese Zodiac, the Dragon is celebrated every 12 years. But, no matter what the zodiac shows, the dragon always remains an important symbol of Chinese culture.

Children can have fun being creative with this Chinese Dragon Puppet. Get started with the Printable dragon image which prints 2 per page. Scissors, glue and a brown or white paper bag.

Next, color in the dragon’s face with markers or crayons. Cut the dragon out and glue the center part to the bottom flap of the paper bag.

Embellish the puppet with supplies that you have on hand. For this example, I used orange and yellow petals from a silk flower to give a fierce mane. A few glittery holiday ribbons add a nice touch for the dragons fiery breath. Use craft glue or a glue stick to secure these items in place.
