Mini Turkey Craft for Kids

This Thanksgiving Turkey Craft for Kids was a fun one to put together! It seems that my followers like it as well 🙂

Oh so cute! Mini coffee filter turkey craft for kids to make.

Holiday Thanksgiving coffee filter Turkey craft for kids is an easy group or classroom craft for just about any age.  Save some time by pre-cutting the coffee filters into 1/4 sections for each child to make one turkey.  Use brown construction paper or even a brown paper bag for the turkey’s body.  Then, simply apply a magnet for a refrigerator decoration or use these cute turkeys to decorate a classroom bulletin board.

What’s Needed to Make Mini Turkeys

Putting the Mini Turkeys Together

  1. For younger children, you may want to pre-cut the coffee filter into quarters. For older children, this is a great opportunity to teach children about fractions.
  2. To get the scalloped top edge, fold the coffee filter section in half, then half again. With scissors, trim the edge to either a rounded shape or pointed shape (see the two examples above).
  3. Unfold the coffee filter and place on newspaper. Next, children can decorate the section of coffee filter with colorful, washable markers.
  4. Once colored in, spritz with the water until the colors run together. Set aside and allow time plenty of time to dry.
  5. Meanwhile, print out and then cut out the Turkey Template. These will print 6 per page. Either print on brown printer paper or trace the turkey template on to the brown construction paper or paper bag. Next, cut the turkey body out.
  6. Decorate the face of the turkey with a beak and gobbler cut from the construction paper scraps. Use the 2 white hole protectors as eyes and fill in the circle with the black marker.
  7. Use either another hole protector (cut in half and colored orange) or triangles of orange paper for the turkey’s feet.
  8. Glue the 1/4 section of colored and dried coffee filter to the back of the turkey.
  9. Attach a magnet or use as a classroom bulletin board decoration.
