An easy Preschool Mummy Craft that is guaranteed to keep you little ones focused without frustration! For preschoolers obsessed with mummies, this reverse image illusion will still give the same effect as a fabric wrapped mummy.
Younger children love to show off their original artwork. But if the project is too difficult, you’ll find that they can quickly loose interest. That’s why this little mummy craft is the perfect project for your preschoolers. An adult will need to cut the mummy pattern out, but after that, it can be taken over by their creative little imaginations.
Have These Supplies on Hand
- White cardstock paper
- Scissors
- Craft glue
- Black construction paper
- Scraps of other construction paper
- Google eyes
- Gingerbread Man/Person (Yep, this is the same PDF used for the Holiday Gingerbread Family Craft.)
Putting the Preschool Mummy Together
You’ll start out by printing the Gingerbread Man/Person on white cardstock paper. This will print one per page. Definitely use the cardstock paper as it will hold up better to the glue.
For younger children, it is best for an adult to cut the mummy out. Teachers, you decide what’s best for your preschoolers. One option is to cut out the mummy first then trim any excess black paper. Another option is to add the paper strips then cut out the mummy.
Pull out your box of scraps. Give each child black construction paper to cut into strips for the mummy. Let the children choose a color to define the eyes section. Just a bit of green, yellow or red can add a little spooky factor to their mummies
Once the black paper is cut into strips, children can start gluing them into place. Add a little color around the eye area then top with the google eyes.
Decorate a classroom with the mummies by stringing them together to make a banner. You can attach the mummies with a ribbon like the Holiday Gingerbread Family Craft. The example above has a section of silver Mardi Gras beads which is another way to string the mummies together for a banner.
