These easy Flower Pencil Toppers are a fun way to get kids into the Back to School mindset. Add a little creative fun by personalizing pencils and pens while gathering supplies for school.
After all all, what parent doesn’t need a few Back to School Tips?
This craft is an excellent way to practice fine motor skills and all you need is some craft foam or felt. No glue is necessary to create this craft foam Flower Pencil Topper bouquet. Colorful flowers can brighten up any room and are a great gift idea. Use on both pencils or pens.
Supplies Needed
- Fun foam or felt – bright colors
- Fun foam or felt – green
- Pencils or Pens
- Hole punch
- Scissors
- flower pattern #1 or flower pattern #2
Making the Flower Pencil Toppers
Start by printing out one of the two flower stencil patterns above. You can also create an easy flower pattern of your own. For younger children, or a group, you may want to make a pattern on cardstock paper for them to use.
Using the cut out pattern, trace the flower and leaf onto the fun foam or felt and then cut them out. Note: Children will have an easier time using the fun foam as felt is a little more difficult to cut.
With the hole punch, punch a hole in the center of the flower or on one end of the leaf. If children are using felt, you may need to use scissors to make a small slit (x shape) instead of the hole punch.
First slide the leaf onto the pencil and follow this with the flower.
Repeat the above steps for each flower topped pencil that you would like to create. Arrange the ‘flowers’ in a small vase. In this example, I used a glass baby food jar with a ribbon tied at the top. This would make a super cute Back to School gift for the teacher 🙂
Another idea is to have children decorate the flowers with a little glitter glue, puff paint or markers.
