Christmas Lights Garland Craft

A festive and fun Christmas Lights Garland craft. Christmas crafts are my favorite, especially the easy ones where the entire family can participate. This garland can be used to decorate the tree, in a window or even to decorate mirror in your home.

I’ve included a printout for two different size bulbs. The larger print out is for 6 bulbs per printed page, while the small PDF will print 8 per page. Another option is to use one print out on white paper then cut the bulbs out and use them as a template on different colors of paper. For a little extra sparkle, trace the bulbs on a shiny, holographic gift bag then cut out.

What you will need

  • PDF for the Medium Christmas lights which will print 6 per page
  • PDF for the Small Christmas lights which will print 8 per page
  • Craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Tin foil
  • Yarn or string
  • Printer paper – white or several different colors

Making the Christmas Lights Garland

Start by selecting the printout for Medium Christmas lights or the Small Christmas lights. If you print the bulbs on white paper, then cut them apart and trace on to different colors of construction paper.

Cut a 2 inch section of yarn for each of the lights you are making.

Measure and cut out tin foil for the base of the bulb. Cut enough to fold over so both sides of the bulb are covered. Be sure that the fold is on the side of the bulb – not the top, since that is where the loop of yarn will be. Optional, you can also just cut a square of foil for the one side.

Add glue to the light bulb base and attach the ends of the yarn or string so that a loop is formed. Immediately after, add the tin foil over the loop ends and press down. Put a little glue on the back of the base and fold the foil over (on the side) and attach.

Once dry, string the light bulbs on a length of ribbon – or as I have done with silver Mardi Gras beads. If using Mardi Gras beads, make the yarn loop a little bit longer to make it easier to thread the bulbs on to the beads.
