Be creative and have fun. In the four examples above, I used holiday satin ribbon in red on a white paper. A single holly ribbon adds a nice touch. Simple green and red curling ribbon is an easy and inexpensive option. The bottom two candy canes were decorated with reflector tape from the Dollar Tree.

What You Will Need

  • White or red printer paper or card-stock printer paper
  • Craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Holiday ribbons or other items for decorating the candy canes
  • Printable small Candy Canes (6 per page) or large Candy Canes (3 per page)

Instructions

  • Start by printing out either the small Candy Canes (6 per page) or large Candy Canes (3 per page) on white or red printer paper. To make the candy canes more durable, use card-stock paper in either red or white.
  • Divide up the page so that each child gets 1 – 2 candy canes. It is easier to add the ribbons and decorations before completely cutting out the candy cane. Preschool children may need help cutting out the candy canes cut out, but older children should be able to do this themselves.
  • Once decorated and the glue has dried, you are ready to cut the candy canes out.

While children are decorating the printable candy cane craft, consider retelling the legend of the candy cane.
