- Card stock paper (for the card – any color)
- Tissue paper – 2 colors
- Yarn – green
- Flower seeds (any type)
- Flower Pot Card template – flower, leaf and pot
Putting the Seed Packet Craft Together
- Start by printing out the Flower Pot Cart template. You can either print on a color of paper that you would like to use for the pot or on white printer paper.
- Place a 3″ by 3″ section of green tissue paper over the leaf and another over the flower on the printout.
- You should be able to see the flower and leaf outline through the tissue paper. With glue, trace the leaf and flower onto the tissue paper.
- Attach about a 4″; section of yarn to the flower and leaf, ensuring that there is enough glue in that spot to hold the yarn in place.
- Place a few flower seeds in the center of the leaf and flower. Take a second square of tissue to place on top of the tissue with glue. Gently press down so that the glue adheres to the top tissue paper.
- Allow about an hour for the glue to thoroughly dry.
- Cut out the flower, leaf and flower pot images from the printout.
- Trace the flower pot onto brown construction paper (or a brown bag) and cut out. You can also use the flower pot directly from the printout.
- Carefully trace the flower and leaf templates on to the tissue paper along the glued lines and then cut out. Be extra careful not to cut the yarn.
- Optional – decorate the edges of the leaf and flower with glitter glue.
Creating the Card
- Fold the card stock paper in half to make the card. Position the flower and leaf on it.
- Run a line of glue along the sides and bottom of the flower pot.
- Glue the flower pot into place so that the bottom of the flower pot holds the yarn in place. Snip off any excess yarn.
- Once dry, place the leaf and flower into the top of the pot.
- Decorate the outside with Happy Mother’s Day and include a special note or poem on the inside.
