Shimmery, glittery July 4th Fireworks, an easy holiday decoration for kids to make. This craft is easy to put together and with the inexpensive clear plastic divider sheets enough fireworks can be made for your celebration.
I love working with the clear plastic divider sheets that you can get from the dollar store. You can purchase through Amazon – but it will cost you more. Usually there will be 8 different colored sheets that you can use for different projects. Have some fun with these glittery July 4th Fireworks. No two fireworks are ever the same so there is no need to create perfect shapes or design. The different color circles give a nice ‘glow’ effect to the fireworks.
What You Will Need
- Different colors of glitter or glitter glue
- Glue pen
- Scissors
- Permanent marker
- Plastic binder sheets – I purchased a pack of 8 from the Dollar Tree.
Instructions for the July 4th Fireworks
Start out by creating the plastic circles. With a permanent marker and different sizes of small bowls (or anything else that will give you a circle shape) make several circles on different colors of the plastic sheets. Keep the circles close together to use as much of the plastic as possible. Note: It’s not necessary to have circles, free-form shapes will also work.
Cut out the circles. If there is any residue of the permanent marker on the circles, use a little rubbing alcohol to remove the marker.
There are several ways to create the fireworks on the plastic circles. A glitter pen works well and is easy to use. But for a brighter firework, use a glue pen to make the fireworks shapes, then sprinkle the glitter onto the glue.
Displaying Your July 4th Fireworks
- Attach a small magnet to the back for a refrigerator magnet.
- With a pin, make a hole at the top and attach string to hang in a window.
- Use a small section of rolled tape and attach directly to a window.
