This is a great classroom activity for Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Print out the template for children to create an I Have a Dream Banner. The focus is on Dr. King’s 1963, I Have a Dream speech. This is a relevant and meaningful activity encouraging students to think about their own dreams and hopes for the future.
I Have a Dream Banner
Two banners will print per page for this activity. By using colorful printer paper, students can create a beautiful banner for the classroom. Younger children can include simple statements. This is a good opportunity for class participation and discussion about how individuals can make a difference. Dreams can be for themselves such as what they might like to do when they grow up. Other dreams might be larger and include what might make our community, country or even the world a better place.
Start by selecting an printing the Banner printable PDF on either white printer paper – which can be decorated with crayons and markers. Or, print the Banner printable PDF directly on colorful printer paper as shown above.
Cut each page in half so that each child can have a banner. Once the banner is cut out, punch two holes at the top of the page so that the banners can be strung together for a classroom decoration.
