Autumn Falling Leaves Craft for Kids

It’s easy to create an autumn scene with this colorful Falling Leaves Craft. This activity is a fun classroom project for pre-school as well as younger children and uses supplies you already have on hand.

Falling Leaves Craft for kids. Easy pre-school activity for Autumn.

What’s Needed for this Falling Leaves Craft

  • White printer paper – one page per child
  • Craft glue
  • Colorful tissue paper in fall colors – orange, gold, brown
  • Brown crayons
  • Tree Printout <– Get the Printout Here

Instructions

  1. Print out the Tree Printout on the white printer paper for your students.
  2. Start by having the children color the tree trunk and branches. They can use brown or any color they choose 🙂 This is their artwork and creativity is encouraged.
  3. Next, give each child a selection of the tissue paper and have them tear apart small sections for the leaves. The tissue can also be cut into small squares beforehand and given to the children. Again, if children want to be creative, there is no reason not to have any color of leaves that they choose.
  4. Put dots of glue around the base of the tree and throughout the branches. Then attach small sections of the tissue to the spots of glue.
  5. Once the leaves have dried in place, attach the picture to a colorful matting to display in the classroom or to send home.

Other Suggestions

Using the tree template, children can either use finger paints or crayons for the leaves. If using finger paints, be sure to clean off the fingers when changing colors otherwise all the leaves might end up brown.

  1. I like this idea. I think I would use real dry leaves from outside, have the kids crunch them into pieces and then glue them on. Thanks for the idea!

  2. Very good idea! Thanks for sharing. Since I live in Orlando, the idea of using colorful fall leaves isn’t an obvious choice.
