Recycled CD Snowman Craft

Time to recycle, and reuse those outdated CD’s. This holiday, have the kids make a CD snowman craft to decorate their desk, locker or home.

Another fun way to recycle an old CD (music, movie or computer). A shimmering outdoor scene is created with the shiny side of a CD for this holiday snowman craft for kids. Cut three circles for the snowman, just be sure they are large enough to cover the center hole of the CD. Attach a magnet and use to decorate the refrigerator or attach a string to the back for a shining Christmas ornament.

Recycled CD Snowman Craft
A fun way to decorate for the holidays with a recycled CD. This snowman craft for kids is a great classroom activity for December. Instructions at ActivitiesForKids.com.

What You’ll Need

  • White, black and orange construction paper
  • Google eyes
  • Sequins or tiny buttons
  • Scrap of holiday ribbon
  • Black marker
  • Glitter glue
  • Recycled computer or music CD
  • Craft glue
  • Scissors

How to Assemble

  1. Start by cutting out three circles for the snowman. They can be any size, just large enough to cover the center hole, yet small enough to fit on the CD. Make each one just slightly smaller than the last.
  2. With a few dots of glue, attach the bottom circle first then the center one, slightly overlapping them as you go up.
  3. Add a small section of holiday ribbon for a scarf before adding the smallest circle for the head.
  4. A small orange triangle is glued in place for the nose and a black top-hat on his head.
  5. Next, finish off the face with a few dots from the black marker for the mouth and two small google eyes.
  6. For the buttons, use sequins, small buttons or red marker.
  7. Apply a few dots of glitter glue around the CD for a snowfall effect.

Note: If any excess glue gets on the CD, just wipe away with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol.

Be creative here, other than a snowman, how about a foam Christmas tree? Even easier than the CD Snowman craft, but every bit as festive. How about trying a Shining CD Christmas Nativity Craft?
