A Happy New Year Banner for kids to create and print is the perfect after Christmas craft. If your kids are looking for something to do over winter break, let them try their hand at making a holiday banner.
This is an easy activity that will keep them occupied while creating a little holiday cheer. A banner is always a great party decoration. Not hosting a New Year’s party? Then create a banner as a fun way for the family to recognize the New Year. There are three different banner shapes on the custom banner page to choose from. You can select any letters and fonts that you choose to make your own banner from the Custom Banners Page. Other suggestions: ‘CHEERS!’ or even include the upcoming year.
How to Create a Banner
Start by going to the Custom Banners Page and follow the online instructions for each banner letter. You can use the different shapes to create your own custom Happy New Year banner or follow my directions below.
- For this example I used the circle-line banner for the words ‘HAPPY’. The letter font color is black and an alternating color was used for the circle border. A more festive look was achieved by using pinking shears to cut out the circles.
- The triangle-line banner was used for the ‘NEW YEAR’ letters, selecting black for both the border and the letters. I used bright neon paper to print these pages. Cut along the outer black line with scissors.
- Next, use the scraps from the neon paper and a hole punch to make a little confetti to decorate the white circles. With diluted glue, lightly brush a few dots of glue on the banner then sprinkle the confetti over it.
- For stringing the banner together, use the hole punch to punch 2 holes on the circles and 4 holes on the triangle banners where indicated.
- String together with decorative ribbon.
