Turn the flower petals to reveal what Mom’s Love is. A cute Mother’s Day Card for kids to make. Cutting skills are necessary, therefore this craft is designed for grade school children.
What You Will Need
There are three printable pages provided for this craft. First is the full page for ‘Mom’s Love is’ which includes the words and flower outline. The next page is for the full flower. The third page is for the individual petals. Six petals are on the printout, but only five are used for this activity.
- 2 pieces of printer paper of the same color. One for the background and one for the petals. I used yellow.
- 1 piece of printer paper in a different color for the flower. I used purple for the flower.
- Green construction paper or green marker
- Pencil or pen Crayons or markers
- Scissors Hole punch
- Paper hole reinforcer – optional
- Paper fastener (brad)
- Printout for Mom’s Love Is…
- Printout for Flower
- Printout for Petals
Putting It Together
Start by printing the three printouts for this activity. On the background page for ‘Mom’s Love is’ children can color in the letters and then write in six descriptors of what Mom’s Love means to them.
Cut out the flower template. Cut out the inside part of one of the petals. If colorful printer paper is not available, the flower and petals can also be printed on white printer paper, cut out and then traced onto construction paper.
Next, cut out the five petals. These should have been printed on the same color of paper that the background page was printed on. Glue the 5 petals onto the flower as shown.
With the scissors, put a small hole into the center flower on the background page. With the hole punch (going in through the cut out petal) put a hole into the center of the flower. I used a white paper reinforcer to strengthen the hole on the flower, but this may not be necessary.
Next, attach the flower to the background with the paper fastener (brad). The written words will be revealed as the flower is turned.
Finish the flower with a stem and leaves. This can be done with scraps of construction paper or even drawn in with markers or crayons.
