Father’s Day Tie Card Printout for Kids

Here is an easy card for kids to make for their dad this Father’s Day. The Father’s Day Tie Card prints out on one sheet of paper and includes the printout of the card itself and the template for the tie.

To make this card pop, use brightly colored printer paper. For this example, I swapped the colors for the ties and the cards. Swapping the colors is great for a group project. Children can pick and choose the color combinations they want to use. Then used other bright paper for the dots and stripes of the ties. Another fun option is to use printed wrapping paper or scrap book paper for an interesting decorative tie.

The card measures 3 1/4 by 5 1/4 and can fit into a standard sized envelope.

Father’s Day will be here before you know it and is always celebrated on the third Sunday in June. Interesting Fact: As a Catholic holiday, Father’s Day was originally celebrated on June 19th, St. Joseph’s Day.

Materials Needed

  • Father’s Day Tie Card printout
  • Bright colorful printer paper
  • Small Buttons – optional addition for the collar
  • Glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Other paper options for the tie – optional

Putting the Card Together

Select the Father’s Day Tie Card printout. Add your bright paper into the printer tray and print out.

Cut out the two pieces of the printout, the shirt / card part and the tie.

Option 1: Mix and match the colors for the tie and card.
Option 2: Trace the tie (and collar) on colorful printed wrapping paper. I used paper decorated with stamps (see below). Striped paper also works really well for the tie.

Glue the pointed collar portion of the tie to the collar part of the card – the front of the decorative paper will be glued to the back of the collar.

Fold on the dotted line – Happy Father’s Day should appear under the tie. Children can either write a message on the back of the tie or under the tie.

Optional – Glue small buttons onto the collar lapels.
