Theresa Johnston
As a graduate of the University of Central Florida (UCF) with a BS/BA, majoring in Accounting and minoring in Computer Science, I was able to enjoy a rewarding 15 year, initial career as a System Programmer Analyst, developing hospital and governmental software for accounting applications.
My technical education and experience has given me the opportunity to pursue my passion for creating and sharing creative ideas through my on-line presence, ActivitiesForKids.com. Over the years I have developed multiple websites for myself and others while providing articles, blogs and social media updates.
As an Orlando resident since 1970, I have raised my two children in the Central Florida area, enjoying and exploring the wonderful amenities that are located here.
In 1998 I decided to do my first internet project as a way to teach myself HTML programming. At that time my boys were in elementary school and I was enjoying doing projects with them. As a scout leader and school volunteer, I was always on the lookout for new ideas for children – something easy and inexpensive. It seemed to be a perfect fit that my first web presence should be about activities for kids. Over the years, the site has transformed from a programmer designed website to a fully functional blog format which is more flexible and user friendly.
During 2013, Activities for Kids took on a new format, complete with social connections to Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest . Many original projects and activities are in the process of being re-written and updated to go along with the changing face of the internet. During 2014, I will be adding more interactive printables (ex. party invitations, bookmarks, coupon books) for you to use with your children.
