Shamrock Sun Catcher

An interesting option for a Shamrock Sun catcher. The reverse image of the design creates a pretty image both ways. There are several ways to create the sun catcher, with strips of tissue paper or watercolor markers. For the shamrock sun-catcher decorated with the water color markers, I used blue, green and yellow markers (Analogous color scheme).
MATERIALS:
  • Green Printer paper
  • Coffee filters, 2 per child
  • Craft glue
  • Paint Brush
  • Scissors
  • Printable Shamrock Pattern
  • Different shades of tissue paper
  • Washable markers
INSTRUCTIONS:
  • Print out the Shamrock Pattern on green printer paper.
  • Fold in half where shown and cut out the circle, then cut out the inside shamrock.
  • For the water color sun-catcher, decorate the coffee filters with different colors of watercolor markers then spritz with water until the colors run together.
  • For the tissue paper sun-catcher, apply a thin coat of diluted blue to the coffee filters and apply the strips of tissue paper.
  • Glue the circle of green paper to one coffee filter and the shamrock to the other as shown.
  • Trim any excess coffee filter if it ends up being larger than the circle.
