Seed Packet Card

Seed packet craft to create a cute card for Mother’s Day. Decorative flower and leaf contain seeds that mom can plant to grow real flowers. This craft is not designed for younger children to do by themselves.

Seed packet craft for kids to make a cute Mother's Day Card - from
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Pencil
  • Construction paper – brown
  • Paper (for the card – white or color)
  • Tissue paper – 2 colors
  • Yarn – green
  • Flower seeds (any type)
  • Flower Pot Card template

  • Print out the Flower Pot Cart template.
  • Place a 3″ by 3″ section of tissue paper over the leaf and flower on the template.
  • You should be able to see the flower and leaf outline through the tissue paper. With glue, trace the flower and leaf outline on to the tissue paper.
  • Attach about a 4″; section of yarn to the flower and leaf, ensuring that there is enough glue in that spot to hold the yarn.

  • Place a few flower seeds into each design and top each design with another square of tissue paper – lightly pressing down on the glued area.
  • Allow about an hour for the glue to dry.
  • Cut out the flower, leaf and flower pot template from the printout..
  • Trace the flower pot onto brown construction paper (or a brown bag) and cut out.
  • Carefully trace the flower and leaf templates on to the tissue paper along the glued lines and then cut out. Do not cut the yarn.
  • Optional – decorate the edges of the leaf and flower with glitter glue.

  • Run a line of glue along the sides and bottom of the flower pot.
  • Fold a piece of paper (white or color) and position the flower and leaf on it.
  • Glue the flower pot into place so that the bottom of the flower pot holds the yarn in place. Snip any yarn that is extra.
  • Once dry, place the leaf and flower into the top of the pot.
  • Decorate the outside with Happy Mother’s Day and include a special note or poem on the inside.
